USA Softball Columbus League 2019

Teams: This league is designed for good rec teams or teams that play an occasional tournament. Great for teams that play couple nights of the week and wanting an additional night.

Age Group: 14U
Fees: $650 per team (based on 6 team league) *If less than 6 teams, rates will be adjusted accordingly if the league is played.
Season: Regular season will run May 28 – June 25, 2019. No games scheduled for 7/2.
Playoff scheduled for July 9, 2019. Higher seed is home team.
Format: Double Headers each week (pool play format)
Play same team twice (if home team first game, visitors the second game)
5 weeks league play, single elimination Tournament Play (top 4 teams)
7 innings or no new inning after 1:10 – start 2nd game around 7:15 end at 8:30
Games can end in a tie during league play
Second game could be shorten due to darkness or length of first game
Includes: Scheduling of umpires (one per game)
Tournament – Top 4 teams seeded into single elimination
Seed 1 vs Seed 4, Seed 2 vs Seed 3
Championship game (two umpires)
Playing on turf fields (no lights) with 200’ home run fence
6 new USA Softball game balls
Games and scores posted on website
Individual awards (12) on Finals Night to top 2 teams
Home team bring new ball each game (provided), Visitors provides used ball
League provide balls for tournament

Rules: All teams must be sanction by USA Softball and have insurance
ACE Certification required for head coach
Background Check required for all coaches and adults in the dugouts
USA Softball pool play rules apply (can bat everyone)
USA certified/approved bats
USA approved balls.
Seeding: Based Points: Wins = 2 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points
Tie breaker: runs allowed, runs scored, coin toss
Weather: If the 1st game must stop due to weather, and the losing team has batted 3 innings it will be considered a complete game. If less than 3 innings are played, the remainder of the first game (start same point as the game was at time of stoppage) and the second game will be rescheduled. If the 1st game has been completed but the 2nd game must be canceled due to weather in mid-game, the game will revert back to the last completed inning, considered complete, and will not be rescheduled.
If the second game is not started and never completed, or 1 inning was not completed, the result is a tie 0-0.
